Did you see me?

I saw Geraldo Rivera get swept off his feet.  Just whoosh and he was down and sliding fast.  The beauty and comfort that was Galveston is marred, torn and muddied in one devastating event, something that couldn’t be stopped or controlled. But many lives were saved by the advance warning of the watchmen.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he had done, whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

Don’t confuse this judgment with the Great White Throne at the end of the thousand year millennium wherein all the dead and all who ever lived will see Him for Who He is.  This judgment is for the saved who know Him and are taken in the rapture.  It is this one on one that determines our individual rewards, our crowns.  It is here that our deeds will burn like chaff of not.

Lord, when did I see you thirsty?  When you gave a drink to the least of them.  In other words, you are indeed your brother’s keeper.  The big things people see, but the little things He sees as big.

Do you see the little ones buried in the big numbers, one big number being 38 million? Or is that so out of your control, it’s not on your radar enough to point out that it’s wrong, very, very wrong?  Are you afraid to make them part of any conversation anywhere so as to not invade someone else’s comfort zone?  If you help one person think twice about them, maybe the chain reaction will save one of them.  If you don’t, then nothing changes.

An old one liner from my Bible college days was the challenge “Are you standing on the promises or sitting on the premises?” (Other favorite sayings from Bible college days were “Hang it on your beak” and “In your ear with scuba gear” but they have absolutely nothing to do with this post.  I just thought they were funny.) I am guilty of sitting my premises too often.

We are salt and light.  Salt without savor is useless.  Light hidden away benefits no one.  The enemy is a roaring lion seeking whom he can destroy any way he can through anyone he can find.  If I don’t fight back and I let him trample babies, countries, ideologies, faith….. what do I say to the little ones who were deprived of their futures, to the Christians killed in Sudan, to the martyrs in North Korea and China, when they ask “did you see me?”

Yes, honey.  I didn’t shut up.
